Single Flue Directly from Your Stove

If you're considering using a twin wall flue directly from the top of your stove, please read this article which outlines a few reasons why this isn't recommended.

The main points are:

  1. Manufacturer's Recommendations: The stove manufacturer advises using a single flue from the top of the stove, and it's important to follow these guidelines as well as UK building regulations.

  2. Chimney Sweeping Access: Single flues typically have cleaning access doors, which are necessary for regular chimney maintenance. Twin wall flues don't have this feature, making it difficult to clean the chimney without disconnecting the flue.

  3. Performance Issues: Using a twin wall flue directly can lead to slow lighting fires and excessive smoke because the flue needs to be warm for smoke to rise properly. Twin wall flues can remain cold, affecting the stove's performance.

The recommendation is to use a small piece of single flue from the stove to ensure proper function and compliance with regulations.

The shortest available piece is 250mm, and it would be ideal to incorporate this into your setup if possible.

If you choose to proceed with a twin wall flue, consider using an adjustable piece to allow for cleaning access, though this isn't the preferred solution.
